It's a scientific fact that all change is violent, and this NFC East clash, where a change in the power structure might be playing itself out, is certainly violent.

Bob Moore's long career has taken some interesting turns. Drafted by an established power, the Oakland Raiders, in the fifth round of the 1971 draft, Moore was exposed in the NFL76 expansion draft. This led to six long, dark years in Tampa Bay, where, this past offseason, he was ignominiously cut.
ReplyDeleteThat transaction did not go unnoticed by Eagles boss Dick Vermeil, who coached Stanford's freshman team in 1965. And Moore, a former Cardinal standout, ended up in Philadelphia for his 12th NFL season.

The notoriously tough Philadelphia fans have criticized Vermeil's concentrating recent draft picks in the defensive backfield. But when you see the Eagle secondary confine a veteran quarterback to this sort of performance--and contribute a key safety in such a tight game--one must conclude that Philadelphia's seventh-year coach knew what he was doing.
