These two teams were both big disappointments last season. The Packers were picked by many to win the NFC and started the season looking like they would do it. But they completely collapsed down the stretch as both their offense and defense struggled. Coming into this season there is no reason to think they will be any better than last, so they are looking like a .500 team again, unless they surprise everyone and show great improvement on offense. Since losing in the Super Bowl the Saints have done nothing but disappoint. Their defense continues to play well but their offense has been non existent for two years now. Like the Packers no one is expecting any real improvement this year. They will have to prove that they are a different team before there are any believers. This could be a very low scoring and boring game.

Packers DT1 Dan Hampton, the 1979 and '81 NFC Defensive Player of the Year, takes a big early lead in the '82 race with seven sacks in this game.
ReplyDeleteHampton's 1981 card says he once had a pet pig.
