St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Houston, and Detroit are all teams that were in the playoffs last season and have started this season with losing records. In fact the Cardinals and Steelers look to be completely out of the running so far. Of course things could turn around, but these two teams have shown nothing so far to indicate keeping any hope.
The Jets, Chargers, Cowboys, and Bears are all showing continued improvement. These are teams that have been gradually improving each season and so far they are all playing like the best teams in their respective divisions. Dallas and the Jets look especially good right now.
The Eagles and the Browns have done like expected and are playing very well right now. Both sit atop their divisions. It's hard to imagine the Browns can actually make the playoffs, but their defense is really good. The Eagles on the other hand, better make the playoffs or there will be some major changes coming in Philadelphia.
Miami, Baltimore, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are all back for another run at the championship. The 49ers have looked especially sharp to start the season.

Games to Watch
New York Jets 3-0 at Green Bay 2-1
This should be a hard hitting game. Two very good defenses. Even though they are on the road, you have to like the chances of New York here. Jets are favored by 5.
Baltimore 2-1 at New England 2-1
As always these Division games count, so this should be a good one. The key for Baltimore will be shutting down Steve Grogan, just as the key for New England will be shutting down Bert Jones. These are two inconstent quarterbacks and I wouldn't be surprised to see this turn into a blowout for one team. New England is a 6 point favorite.
San Francisco 3-0 at Seattle 2-1
Seattle will have to get some good defense if they hope to win this one. The 49ers are a two point favorite.
Miami 2-1 at San Diego 3-0
Two of the top defenses in the League. The Chargers are favored by 3.
