  1. Don Shula will not sit still. The Super Bowl champions have five new starters in NFL81: yeoman FB1 Stan Winfrey, postseason star WR1 Willis Adams, mid NFL80 trade acquistion DE1 Fred Cook, NFL79 rookie-free-agent-find Don Bessileau and--GET THIS!--second-round draft choice LB2 Lyman White. White comes highly regarded enough out of Louisiana State, but his starting nod in Week 2 might be NFL81's most astounding roster news for a variety of reasons:

-- The Dolphins' returning linebacker corps (LB1 Reggie Wilkes, LB3 Lance Mehl and suddenly LB6 Rusty Chambers) was considered strong.

-- Shula picked a linebacker in Round 1, ahead of White: LB5 Mike Singletary of Baylor.

-- White was listed as LB8 coming out of training camp.

Don Shula will not sit still.

  2. The Lions' only new starter for NFL81 is LB3 Gary Shugrue, the team's 11th-round draft choice out of Villanova in NFL76. Detroit, however, might want to look at making a change at K1.
