  1. The Rams are rebuilding. Chuck Knox's starting defense right now includes four first-year starters: DE2 Bill Barnett, a third-round pick last season out of Nebraska; LB2 John Barefield and LB3 Brian Cabrail, the Rams' first- and second-rounders of NFL78, and S1 Larry Anderson, who was signed as a free agent out of Louisiana Tech back in NFL78.

    The only new starter on offense is veteran Freeman Johnson at WR2; he takes over for retired All-Pro Ron Jessie.
