With 2 seconds left in the game, down 17-13, Roger Staubach got under center at his own 13yd line and proceeded to win the game with one throw to wide receiver Fred Nixon a third year player out of Oklahoma. Nixon broke open on a crossing pattern and went unchallenged for the 87yd touchdown and game winner with no time left. The Vikings defense played great, but in the 4th the team managed to give up 14 points on two big plays. That 87yd touchdown and an 85yd punt return by Johnny Lam Jones. Those big mistakes may have cost the Vikings their shot at making the playoffs.
