  1. The New Orleans defense will correctly earn a significant amount of the credit for today's road (but-not-exactly-upset) victory and deservedly so.

But, even though the Green Bay defense held to Saints to a single touchdown, let us also praise New Orleans G1 Emanuel Zanders and T1 Don Morrison. These two veterans had primary responsibility for blocking Packer DE1 Mark Gastineau and DT1 Dan Hampton, who averaged more than three sacks per game combined during the regular season but totaled only one today.

"Overlooked in the 1974 College Draft, (Zanders of Jackson State) signed as free agent with Dolphins and handled a guard assignment for 6 pre-season games with Miami," says his 1977 card. "Joined Saints for final 10 games of 1974, the last 3 being as a starter." Since then, "Z-man" has been Hank Stram's mainstay at right guard. "He has natural blocking ability and is a sturdy pass protector for club. Has desire to excel and is a non-stop worker on the football field."

Morrison was more highly regarded coming off his career at Texas-Arlington, and the Saints selected him in the fourth round of the 1971 draft. "After holding down the Saints' left tackle position his first two years with the club, Don was shifted to right tackle in 1973 and continued his consistent play, protecting the passer and clearing a path for the ball carriers," his 1975 card says. "Quiet and dependable, he's on the brink of breaking into All-Pro recognition."
