Cleveland's ball on New YorkNFC's 29 yard line. Fourth and just over 2 to go. 1:57 left in the third quarter. The score is New YorkNFC 13, Cleveland 13.
ReplyDeleteCleveland's K1 #3 Don Cockroft attempts a 46 yard field goal. The kick is blocked by New YorkNFC's G1 #61 Ron Mikolajczyk. The ball is recovered by Mikolajczyk. Mikolajczyk runs for a gain of almost 4 yards. Mikolajczyk is tackled by G2 #68 Pete Adams. First down, New YorkNFC! First and 10 to go. That was FGPAT (424) against FGPATD (424).
Field Goals Att/Gd Long
K1 Don Cockroft 2/1 17
The Browns had cut Don Cockroft two offseasons ago in favor of rookie Rex Robinson. Before NFL81 kicked off, Cleveland reconsidered--cutting Robinson and resigning Cockroft. Robinson latched on with St. Louis. Entering this week's games, both Cockroft and Robinson had made six of their eight field-goal attempts--but Cockroft had failed to attempt anything longer than 40 yards and Robinson had made his one try from such distance, from 50.
