Bum Phillips has reverted to old, reliable Ronnie at HB1. Ron B. Smith is starting at WR2 and Dwight Hicks at S2 because of injuries (to Billy Johnson and C.L. Whittington, respectively). The only new starters out of the AFC Central champs' training camp were DT2 Grant Hudson, picked up as a rookie free agent out of Virginia in NFL80, and LB3 George Andrews, the second-round pick out of Nebraska in NFL79 who moves to the first unit with the injury-hastened retirement of future Hall-of-Famer Robert "Dr. Doom" Brazile.
