  1. Will new coach Ed Biles make it through even one season? That might depend on if his high-profile trade acquisitions start producing more than they have been in the early going of NFL81. Joe Reed could never win a starting job in San Francisco or Detroit, and he's not impressing as QB1 with the Giants. New York traded one under-producing former college star, Tony Dorsett, to New Orleans for another, Chuck Muncie, to play HB1. The other new Giant starters for NFL81 are holdovers from Bill Arnsparger's tenure: FB1 Gordon Bell, a repurposed halfback; WR2 John Jefferson, New York's first-round pick in NFL78 out of Arizona State; LB3 Brad Cousino, a five-year veteran.

  2. John Jefferson looks like he can be a star.

New YorkNFC's ball on their 38 yard line. First and 10 to go. 8:14 left in the fourth quarter. The score is Dallas 27, New YorkNFC 10.
The pass from New YorkNFC's QB1 #12 Joe Reed is intercepted by Dallas's LB3 #52 Buddy Curry and returned for a gain of almost 30 yards. The pass was intended for WR2 #86 John Jefferson. Curry is tackled by Jefferson. First down, Dallas! First and 10 to go. That was TOP3M211 (84) against WU5zonb4 (78).
