He hurt his pride.
ReplyDeleteNew England's ball on their 22 yard line. Second and just over 9 to go. 14:18 left in the third quarter. The score is New England 3, New YorkAFC 10.
The pass from New England's QB1 #16 Steve Grogan is intercepted by New YorkAFC's LB1 #59 Greg Buttle and returned for a gain of almost 3 yards. Buttle is tackled by FB1 #24 Andy Johnson. First down, New YorkAFC! Grogan is injured and might return later in the game. First and 10 to go. That was I8XpostZ (216) against OU0twst5 (212).

Carano was the Patriots' first-round draft choice, out of Nevada-Las Vegas, in NFL77.
ReplyDeleteDennis Thurman is "equipped with a world of football savvy," his 1982 card says. The Jets' CB1 kept the Patriots' WR1 from being a factor in today's key AFC East tilt.

Jets WR5 Mike Quick, who recovered the last-seconds onside kick and, thus, killed the Patriots' faint comeback hopes, "enjoys drawing as a form of relaxation," his 1984 card says.
ReplyDeleteJets P1 Duane Carrell, coming out of Florida State, started his pro-football career with Jacksonville in the World Football League. "In his 1st NFL game, for Cowboys in 1974, Duane averaged 41 yards on 8 punts with 3 of them going out of bounds or being downed inside the 10-yard line," says Carrell's 1976 card. "He was named game's MVP. Threw a 37-yard pass, 1974."
ReplyDeleteJets C1 Joe Fields "enjoys his role as the leader in the center of the Jets' offensive line," his 1982 card says. "Called the most underrated player on the team, he's not the biggest center in the NFL but he has good quickness and strength. Joe is extra smart on making line calls. He never missed a play at Widener despite nagging injuries during his senior season. Called blocking assignments." Fields, a native of Woodbury, N.J., was the Jets' 14th-round draft choice in 1975.
